Teens

May the good Lord be with you down every road you roam. And may sunshine and happiness surround you when your far from home. And may you grow to be proud, dignified and true. And due unto others as you'd have done to you. Be courageous and be brave. And in my heart you'll always stay Forever Young.
                                             Forever Young by Rod Stewart

Our Teen program is a Long-Term Transitional Living Facility which takes in teens/youths who are turned out of the foster care system upon turning 18 years of age and who are unable to live on their own and subsequently are left to live on the streets.

Our teen program is designed to give the teens the comforts of home, the love of a family and the time to grow into a successful adult.

The teens entering our program will by taught job skills such as how to look for work, fill out an application, prepare for an interview and design a resume, along with basic home economics.

The teens will be required to volunteer at the animal shelter as well as look for work. By volunteering, the teens will receive hands on training in secretariat, animal handling/training, animal grooming, and maintenance. This also teaches them responsibility, social skills, and compassion towards animals, which they will take with them and pass on to others; extending the program boundaries through out society.

The transitional program is also being designed to offer workshops in job skills and basic home economics to anyone, in or out of the program, who wishes to attend.

The programs success comes when the teens leave the program/complete the workshops and claim final independence, living productively among the community.

Food 4 Thought
Many people believe by the age of 18, you should be able to care for yourself. But how many of us at the age of 18 were emotionally & financially ready to go it alone?
